Products Built for Brolly

Brolly: the app, and the platform behind it.

Brolly is an Australian community lending platform. Borrowers apply for short-term loans in the app, and lenders fund a wallet and follow the loans it goes into. Yathra developed the product, from the app on the phone to the services behind it.

The problem

Brolly needed lending that works entirely on a phone: a borrower gets from download to a decision inside the app, through the checks a lender has to run, and every dollar between borrowers and lenders stays accounted for.

What we built

We built the Brolly app for borrowers and lenders in React Native, for iPhone and Android. Behind it sit separate services for onboarding, borrowing and lending, so each part can change without putting the others at risk.

Brolly’s own team runs the book from an admin panel built alongside the app.

What it does today

Live on the App Store.

  • Takes borrowers from download to an application in the app, with identity, eligibility and affordability checks
  • Lets lenders fund a wallet and follow their loans
  • Runs loans on 30-day cycles, with refills and repayments tracked in the app
  • Gives Brolly’s team an admin panel over the whole book
  • Live on the App Store

The stack

What Brolly runs on.

  • React Native The app, for iPhone and Android
  • Expo Builds, releases and updates for the app
  • TypeScript Every service and every screen
  • NestJS The onboarding, borrowing and lending services
  • Next.js The admin panel Brolly’s team runs the book from
  • AWS The cloud the services, queues and data run on
